Temperature outside ranging from 0 to 5 degrees C. Inside was 30 to 40 degrees.
This was our first overnight train, taking two nights.

- Our train is late and nowhere to be seen!… and apparently going to Copenhagen. What happened to German efficiency?

- This is “FIRST CLASS”??

Life "inside"

Stephen drinks hot water and doesn't want to learn Russian

Stephen finally gives in and decides to learn a tiny bit of Russian ...this is assuming he can even enter the country (after the last attempt)

It is necessary to make friends with the carriage guard if you want to survive

Changing the "bogies" (the thing attaching the wheels to the train). Russia seems to have different track gauges from everyone else. We sit in the cabin for a couple of hours whilst the carriage is lifted up and the wheels changed below!

We travel through Poland and into Belarus

Stephen breaks into the "emergency rations" before Siberia. Thanks Cris and James (again)!

Banoffee Sandwich - bread from Cologne, banana from Dominican Republic, chocolate from the UK and inspiration from Belgium

The outside looks green... for now!
